This is an opinion cartoon.
We’re all burned out. But it’s too early to celebrate.
Alabama’s mask order expires today at 5:00 PM. Not because we’ve crossed the COVID finish line. Not because we’re out of the coronavirus woods.
Because Gov. Kay Ivey thinks we can be trusted to enter into the Safer Apart portion of the state’s COVID plan, which relies on ‘personal responsibility’ and ‘common sense.’ The governor urges all citizens to continue to wear face masks in public and do the social distancing thing.
She may as well be speaking in tongues.
As soon as most folks in this state hear the mask mandate is over – too many never paid attention to the order anyway – it’s game over.
Throw your mask on the fire and party on, Garth. I’ll see your toothy grin at the local Sodom and Gomorrah grocery store.
